FLIGHT33
The video we watched in class was about the apartheid. It was a time in America was many black people were not viewed as equal to the white people. An example of how cruel the black people were when they had to drink from a different water fountain from the white people, because the white people felt as though they were too good to eat drink behind another black person. The black people during that time weren’t allowed to vote, ride in the front or use the same bathroom. They weren't even seen as humans when there was a restroom for the white it said men and women, but when you saw the African American bathrooms you saw a different sign, it had “colored”. During that time it was weird to see a successful black man. The reason it was so odd is because white people tried their best to keep the “black man” in the inner city. They would limit the black people by making them seem like they were less, for an example there was a major league, which was for the white. Then there was the Negro league, some black players were better than the white players in the major league but they didn't have any opportunities to present that. This related To Kill A Mockingbird from the standpoint of everyone judging “Boo” Radley. Constantly “Boo” is seen as a bad person because of the incident with his Pop. Plus he is judged because of the times he went to jail. But just like the black people in the video if you really read about “Boo” you would realize that he is thoughtful. In the book he helped fill the tree and put a coat over Scout.
I would like to start off saying i like the layout of your blog because it shows your accomplishments as a ball player. It was good that it looks like you wrote a lot and you did. There was a lot of knowledge with athletes and their issues in sports like the Negro leagues. Good stuff j
ReplyDeleteThis was really good I like the way you phrased black people as not being considered humans because that is true of how things used to be. It shows that you understood what we were writing about because you wrote a connection from Boo Radley and how he is judged because of whats going on with all of the rumors with him and his dad. Great job
ReplyDeleteHey Jordan I thought that your blog was very original and it was pretty good you brought up facts and points about segregation that I didn’t have and I thought that was pretty cool. Your essay was worded well too. If I didn’t know you wrote this I would probably think it was you because of the way you wrote it. It was fun to read. But you should work on your grammar and spelling not to be mean but it would make your blog posts that much better.
